I’m playing with a new laptop (DELL Inspiron) and after the initial Windows 8 setup it’s time to create the recovery DVD.

After some confusion with the new Metro Interface to locate the Dell Backup and Recovery application, all went smooth until the second DVD. When you have to burn the DVD number two, the application will not recognize correctly the empty DVD. The new disc is into the drive for a short while and then is ejected without anything being written to it.

After some perplexing questions (mumble, mumble…) 😀 I have found a solution: upgrade the laptop bios (for me was from A05 to A06). After a reboot all went right.
